Ascendio (iPhone and iPad app) Last updated: October 31, 2026
This policy explains how Ascendio (“the app”) handles your information. The app is developed independently by Takuro Koyanagi (“the developer”). If this English version differs from the Japanese version, the Japanese version prevails.
Your account
When you first open the app, it creates an account with no name (a random ID) using Google’s Firebase Authentication. You don’t need to register your name or email address.
Data you record
The following data is stored in Google’s Cloud Firestore (Firebase), tied to your account, so that you can move it to another device and don’t lose it.
- Your player name, chosen character, and status message
- Activities you log and when you logged them, your stats, level, and experience
- Daily missions, their completion records, and streaks
- Reflection notes
- Activities and stats you created, and your favorites
This data is never used for advertising or sold to third parties.
Linking your Apple ID (optional)
If you link your Apple ID in the app’s Settings, you can move your data to another device. This uses an ID that Apple provides for each app. Starting with version 1.5.0, the app does not ask Apple for your email address or name.
Up to version 1.4.0, the app asked Apple for your email address and stored it in Firebase Authentication and in your account data (Cloud Firestore). If you chose Hide My Email, this is a forwarding address provided by Apple. It is removed from your account data when you open version 1.5.0 or later. It may remain in Firebase Authentication. It is removed when you delete your account.
Versions up to 1.3.2 also requested your name, so if you linked during that time and shared your name, it may be stored in Firebase Authentication. It is removed when you delete your account.
Where data is stored
- Data you record (Cloud Firestore) is stored on Google servers in Tokyo (asia-northeast1).
- Account information (Firebase Authentication: your account ID, and any email address that may remain if you linked your Apple ID in version 1.4.0 or earlier) is handled by a service whose location can’t be chosen, so it may be processed on Google servers outside Japan, such as in the United States.
When the app communicates, your IP address reaches Google as a normal part of how the internet works.
Information kept only on your device
- What the widgets display (stats, missions, streaks, and so on)
- Settings such as appearance and notifications
- Notifications: reminders to log activities and alerts when a streak is about to break are scheduled on your device. They are never sent from a server.
- Photos: the app asks for permission to add to your photo library only when you save a record card. It never reads the contents of your photo library.
Purchasing the Premium Plan
Purchases of the Premium Plan are processed by Apple’s App Store. The developer never receives your card number or other payment information. Whether you have purchased is checked on your device using Apple’s system and is not sent to the developer’s servers.
Third-party services
- Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore (Google LLC): used to manage accounts and store data.
Ads and analytics
The app shows no ads. It includes no analytics, and it does not track you across other apps or websites.
Deleting your data
In the app, Settings → Delete Account deletes all records stored in Cloud Firestore and your account. If you linked your Apple ID, the link is revoked as well. If you can’t delete your data from the app, please contact the address below.
Emails you send us
What you write in an email to us is used only to reply and to look into problems. When you open an email from Settings → Contact Us in the app (version 1.3.3 and later), the app version, iOS version, device model, and app language are added below the message. You can delete them before sending.
